Levy ‘should be ashamed’ as Davies makes honest Tottenham admission

Tottenham star Ben Davies has been a good servant for the club for 11 years, but he now finds himself in a difficult situation.

Davies is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of this month, and while he is considered a backup, he had a big role to play this season amid a host of injuries.

Ange Postecoglou’s future is unclear, which could mean decisions over certain players will wait until the manager’s situation is resolved.

However, with just weeks remaining on his deal, Davies has now spoken out over his future, and Tottenham simply must act accordingly.

Davies reveals uncertainty over Spurs future

Davies has now been asked about his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he has admitted that he does not know if he will still be at the club by July.

“I don’t think there is anything to update to be honest,” Davies stated in a press conference ahead of Wales’ clash with Liechtenstein.

“I don’t think I am going to be the person who is making any of those decisions, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s full focus here this week.”

The 32-year-old joined Tottenham in 2014, making him one of their longest-serving players, and with 358 appearances for the Lilywhites, he deserves to be treated with a bit more respect by Daniel Levy.

Levy must make Davies decision right now

For a player who has given so much to Spurs over the years to be facing such uncertainty over his future is a damning indictment of Levy’s reign in North London, and is a disrespectful way to treat Davies.

The Welshman has an option to extend his contract by a year, and extending for further backup depth could be useful regardless of who is the manager.

With the decision likely falling above Postecoglou’s head until his own future is resolved, Levy must make a decision soon one way or the other.

If Davies is to be released, he deserves to be given more notice as he would then need to find a new club, and he may not enter into talks with anyone until he is made aware of Tottenham’s decision.

If he is to be kept on, then this option to extend must be activated soon, which will allow Spurs to then start focusing on their summer transfer plans.
