Levy ‘made to look silly’ over Tottenham decision amid new Postecoglou development

Daniel Levy has incurred the wrath of the Tottenham fanbase after sacking Ange Postecoglou, in a decision which could backfire.

Postecoglou won Tottenham their first trophy in 17 years as they lifted the Europa League, but this was not enough to keep his job.

Tottenham finished 17th with just 38 points in the Premier League, and this was deemed unacceptable by Levy, but a lot of fans believed that Postecoglou deserved more time.

Levy could now face further embarrassment, as Postecoglou’s reputation has soared since the Europa League final, and he may already have a new job lined up.

Postecoglou of interest to clubs after Spurs sacking

Postecoglou’s dismissal means that while Tottenham search for a new manager, he will be on the lookout for another club, but he may not have to wait long.

It has been reported that several clubs are already interested in hiring Postecoglou, offering him an immediate return to the dugout.

Tottenham’s league form was unacceptable

It is unclear what Postecoglou’s stance over taking a new role is, as he may want to assess his options and take a break after what was an exhausting two years at Spurs.

However, if he was to take a job now, it would embarrass Levy further, and may make him regret his decision to sack Postecoglou.

Levy could be embarrassed by Postecoglou appointment

While Tottenham’s league form this season was well below par, winning a European trophy was no easy feat for Postecoglou, and by winning silverware, he did what Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and several other managers could not with Spurs.

This has raised Postecoglou’s profile, and if he walks straight into another job, it may show that Levy was wrong to dismiss him so quickly.

If Postecoglou succeeds elsewhere, as he also did before joining Tottenham, Levy will regret his decision, and fans will be even more furious that a manager who brought silverware to N17 was sacked.

Levy will have to get this next appointment right if he is to justify his decision to fire Postecoglou, but while Thomas Frank is the front runner, Spurs will have to show ambition by paying his £10 million release clause if they are to sign him.
