Levy has to block Nathan Collins to Tottenham after recent transfer development

Thomas Frank is expected to become the new Tottenham manager after Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.

One of the biggest priorities for the Dane is going to be the transfer window, with Spurs desperate for a centre-back.

Cristian Romero is likely to leave Tottenham after Postecoglou’s exit.

This will no doubt leave a massive gap in the Spurs’ backline, and Frank will need a replacement for the Argentine.

However, Daniel Levy cannot allow the Dane to bring in Nathan Collins from Brentford.

Nathan Collins is too expensive for Tottenham

Upon Frank’s appointment, Tottenham are likely to be interested in multiple Brentford stars

The Bees had a successful campaign last season as they finished 10th in the Premier League table and were in the race for Europe throughout much of the season.

Therefore, many of the stars at the London club are wanted, with Bryan Mbeumo linked with a move to Tottenham

Another Brentford star linked to Spurs is Nathan Collins. However, Levy cannot allow the Irishman to join.

The centre-back has only had one good season at the Bees and had previously struggled at both Burnley and Wolves before his transfer to the Gtech Community Stadium in 2023.

With Brentford set to demand a “significant” fee for the Irishman, Spurs should not pay silly money for the 24-year-old on the back of one decent campaign.

Frank’s side also collapsed defensively in multiple games last season, with Bees conceding three goals or more on eight separate occasions.

Spurs need a defender with experience to replace Romero

With the Champions League back at Tottenham for the 2025/26 campaign, Spurs must bring in an experienced centre-back to replace Romero.

The London club will need to balance the competition alongside the Premier League, which will be a big ask.

Therefore, Tottenham must look to sign someone with Champions League experience who is proven at the top level.

While this may end up costing Levy a hefty sum, it is better to buy known quality rather than to take a risk on someone like Collins.
