Levy already ‘has excuse’ to turn down Frank request after new reveal
Thomas Frank’s move to become Tottenham’s new manager feels like a matter of when, rather than if.
Although Ange Postecoglou delivered the trophy he promised, Premier League form did not do enough to convince the Spurs chief that he is the man to take Tottenham forward.
Levy has identified Frank to be his successor, although Levy has to be prepared to change his ways at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium too, for things to improve.
While there have been signs that things could be on the up, with suggestions of a big-money move for Bryan Mbeumo this summer, a new reveal may have given Levy all the excuses he needs to return to his usual ways.

Dejan Kulusevski injury update provided
There was plenty of debate over Postecoglou throughout much of the season, with questions of how much Spurs’ failure was his fault.
Whatever the dominant reason for disappointment was, it certainly can’t be denied that the Lilywhites had torrid luck with injuries this season, which left the side very light at times.
Trying to manage the demands of Premier League action and Europa League games proved to be too big for the north London outfit, who put their focus into Europe.
After being a key player throughout the season, Dejan Kulusevski hit Tottenham with another big blow just ahead of the Europa League final as he was ruled out injured.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
32 | 7 | 4 |
Luckily, Postecoglou’s men delivered the victory required, but Kulusevski had to undergo surgery on a knee injury, suggesting a fair while on the sidelines.
However, speaking on Viaplay [quoted via Swedish outlet Fotboll Skanalen] during the game between Sweden and Algeria (10 June), the 25-year-old revealed he’s ahead of schedule.
He said: ” It’s good. I’m already ahead of schedule, I can start walking now, so that’s nice.
“I’ll have to watch and be on the sidelines for a few months. It’s early, but we’ll see.”

Levy to limit areas of investment this summer
There is no doubt that Levy needs to show Frank some support when it comes to transfers this summer.
However, with plenty of areas to strengthen and depth needed to compete in the Champions League next term, the Lilywhites have to be shrewd in their business.
Therefore, while it’s not ideal that Kulusevski is set to be out for the start of the season, Levy may well see this as reason enough not to throw any investment towards a replacement.
At the start of the campaign, Spurs should have enough cover and once Kulusevski is fit again, there will be necessary competition.
In the meantime, the chief may be eager to narrow in on other focuses.
