James Maddison ‘going nowhere’ after Thomas Frank name-drop at Tottenham
James Maddison could potentially play a pivotal role at Tottenham under Thomas Frank next season.
Daniel Levy appointed the ex-Brentford boss after Ange Postecoglou was sacked, and he now has a massive task on his hands, with Champions League football returning to North London.
Some Spurs fans wanted Maddison gone after he picked up an injury towards the end of the campaign, missing the final few matches, but Frank seems to have different ideas.

Frank to count on Maddison at Tottenham after mention in first interview
Frank name-dropped Maddison during his first interview as a Tottenham head coach.
The Danish manager is excited to get to work at the North London outfit and implement his ideas as the players return to Hotspur Way for pre-season training.
When talking about the experienced players the 51-year-old is excited to work with, he mentioned Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur and Maddison.

Speaking on Spurs’ official account on X (18 June), the ex-Brentford boss said: “I’m looking forward to getting to know them, to be around them, to feel them, understand them, to work with them on the training pitch, and that’s where you really get the big understanding and understand the relationships between players and how you can get the best out of them. Of course, I’ve got an idea already. My head is spinning. How can we play? How do we put them together and all that?
“When I say talented, it’s not only the young players, it’s also some of the more experienced players. How can we get the best out of them? Solanke, I’m a big fan of him in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals.
“How can we play Bentancur, Maddison… how can we get that?
Frank’s acknowledgement of the 28-year-old attacking midfielder may indicate that he isn’t leaving Tottenham in the ongoing transfer window and could potentially play a major role under the new head coach.

Spurs fans will hope Maddison returns to best under Frank
Maddison was pivotal for Spurs when he first joined from Leicester City, but his performances in recent months have been underwhelming.
The England international’s consistent fitness issues haven’t helped his cause at the North London outfit, and it remains to be seen what shape he’s in after returning to action.
Lucas Bergvall’s emergence at Tottenham is encouraging, but that could leave Maddison fighting for his place in the starting lineup next season.
Dejan Kulusevski was also preferred in the midfield by Postecoglou at Spurs, but Frank will arguably have different ideas after inheriting the current squad.
The North London outfit could see key players like Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min leave this summer, and the Danish manager will undoubtedly want Levy to sign reinforcements soon.
Tottenham fans saw the Australian head coach end their 17-year wait for a trophy, and they will expect similar things from the ex-Brentford boss.
If Maddison can return to his best, the Englishman will arguably have a significant impact on Frank’s debut season in North London.
Supporters will hope the 28-year-old can thrive in N17 under the new manager.
