Get Eze deal done, move on dud – What Spurs need to do before transfer window closes
Tottenham have several matters to attend to before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
There is a positive feel around the Lilywhites after their 4-0 dismantling of Burnley in their opening game of the Premier League season.
However, the North London club still have some work to do in the transfer market if they are to have a squad capable of competing on all fronts.
While an agreement between Spurs and Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze could reach £60million, the two clubs are yet to finalise a deal.
As well as the England international, decisions must be made on a couple of other individuals before the impending deadline.

Tottenham must complete Eze deal with Palace as priority
Eze impressed Spurs supporters with his Palace exploits against Chelsea in his first Premier League appearance of the campaign.
The 27-year-old thought he had blasted the Eagles into a lead at Stamford Bridge, but to have his goal ruled out by VAR.
Eberechi Eze’s statistics v Chelsea | Total |
Minutes played | 84 |
Expected goals (xG) | 0.24 |
Shots on target | 2 |
Dribble attempts (successful) | 3 (2) |
Touches | 42 |

Tottenham lost James Maddison to injury in pre-season and have a creative hole to fill in their midfield.
If Thomas Frank wants a squad capable of challenging in Europe as well as the Premier League, then he needs quality in that area.
In Eze, not only would they fill the void left by Maddison, but they would also have an upgrade to take them forward.

Spurs must move Yzes Bissouma on this summer
Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, with a Premier League stay possible for the Malian.
The central midfielder endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign and struggled to find any form in the hub of Ange Postecoglou’s midfield.
This summer, Joao Palhina has arrived from Bayern Munich, meaning competition is even fiercer for the 28-year-old.
Frank left Bissouma out of his squad to face the Clarets on the opening day, further fuelling the likelihood of him leaving.
With under a year left of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Lilywhites must move him on before 1 September to yield a fee.

Savinho signing would top off incredible Tottenham summer
While Savinho appears to be staying at Man City for now, anything can happen in the transfer market.
Spurs made an audacious approach for the Brazilian, considering he only joined the former Premier League champions last summer.
During his maiden year at the Etihad Stadium, the winger provided 10 assists and showed incredible potential under Pep Guardiola.
Of course, Brennan Johnson has played well for Tottenham against Burnley and in pre-season, showing that he could up his game in North London.
However, if the Lilywhites were to land Savinho, then they would have a serious attacking threat for the rest of the season.
- Tottenham have a realistic chance of landing Eze
- Bissouma must be moved on this summer
- Savinho would represent a dream signing
It may be early days in Frank’s reign, but there have been signs that Tottenham can be a real force this season.
With a couple more quality additions, they can really cement themselves as challengers for the top four.
