Frank to ‘force Mbeumo U-turn’, he already knows classified info for Tottenham to deal

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has expressed a strong desire to join Manchester United this summer, despite interest from Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Under contract until June 2026, with an option to extend, the Bees have rejected United’s bids of £45million plus £10million add-ons and £55million plus £7.5million bonuses, holding out for a fee exceeding the £62.5million United paid for Matheus Cunha.

Thomas Frank, now Spurs’ manager after leaving Brentford, has increased Spurs’ interest in Mbeumo, but the player has informed both clubs he prefers Old Trafford.

The Lilywhites have denied bidding and would only re-enter the race if United’s deal collapses.

Mbeumo to cost a lot of money this summer, claimed Frank

Frank, aware of Mbeumo’s value from his Brentford tenure, emphasised the difficulty of replacing him due to his high cost.

He said in May: “It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot. Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done.

“There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for.”

The Dane could leverage his prior relationship with Mbeumo and Tottenham’s project to sway the forward.

Frank must now convince Mbeumo to join Tottenham

Having coached Mbeumo at Brentford, Frank possesses intimate knowledge of his playing style, preferences and motivations, giving him a strategic edge.

He could highlight Tottenham’s attacking system, which aligns with Mbeumo’s strengths, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists last season, and promise a central role in a Champions League-contending squad.

The Spurs boss could also emphasise his long-term vision, contrasting it with United’s transitional phase under Ruben Amorim.

By offering a competitive bid matching Brentford’s £63million+ valuation, Frank could exploit any delays in United’s negotiations, especially if Mbeumo reconsiders due to familiarity with Frank’s tactics.

However, the attacker’s firm stance on United, per The Athletic, and Tottenham’s current withdrawal makes this challenging unless United’s talks falter significantly.
