Frank ‘could face Tottenham sack talk in months’ after Premier League announcement

Thomas Frank wasn’t everyone’s favourite choice to take over as Tottenham manager.

The Dane has never managed a club with the gravitas of Spurs before. He’ll need to win the supporters over, and football fans have the habit of being impatient.

Following a new announcement from the Premier League, there’s every chance his job could be in danger within months.

Premier League fixtures offer Frank a generous start to life at Tottenham

Frank will be given the funds to build a squad in his name this summer, but he’ll be expected to hit the ground running.

The Premier League fixtures were released on Wednesday (18 June), and Tottenham have a relatively easy start to the season.

Their first three home games – against Burnley, Bournemouth and Wolves – will be seen as very winnable.

They also face trips to West Ham, Leeds and Everton among their first five away games.

There are supposedly no easy games in the Premier League – and Tottenham did their best to prove that last season – but questions could be asked of Frank if Spurs don’t pick up a lot of points from these matches.

Frank will be aware of the pressure to deliver immediately

Frank is an experienced manager. He knows that the pressure will be on him from the very first kick of a Premier League ball.

Indeed, if he fails to beat Burnley in their opening fixture, the media will already be asking questions of the new Spurs boss. Right or wrong, that’s the nature of this sport.

It will be important for Frank to pick up a decent haul of points in his first 10 Premier League fixtures though.

Because, in November, the difficulty ramps up. They face Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Fulham. That’s followed by trips to Newcastle and a reunion with his old club Brentford.

If Spurs aren’t firing on all cylinders by that point, there’s a chance that Frank won’t even be in the Spurs hotseat by the time that fixture rolls around, such is the ruthlessness of his boss Daniel Levy.

If Levy delivers the goods in the transfer market, he and the fans will expect immediate results from the squad. There will be no excuses if Tottenham are flirting with the bottom half around Christmas.
