Dominic Solanke won’t like what Tottenham chiefs now believe behind the scenes

Dominic Solanke has scored 14 goals in 41 appearances in his first season at Tottenham despite encountering injury setbacks.

The England international has helped Spurs in their impressive run to the Europa League semi-finals, scoring four goals and creating four assists in 11 European outings.

Solanke scored for Tottenham from the penalty spot in their 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their semi-final on 1 May.

He will now be eager to score once more on Thursday, as another win for the North Londoners will see them through to the Europa League final, where they will likely face Manchester United.

Tottenham set their sights on Liam Delap

Ipswich striker Liam Delap has enjoyed a strong Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals in the top-flight even though the Tractor Boys are set for relegation.

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham are planning on making an offer to sign Delap this summer, but face competition from Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton and West Ham.

The report adds that Spurs view the 22-year-old as a bargain option, and his Premier League experience and age profile have seen him become one of the North London side’s top targets.

The England Under-21 international showed his class against Spurs when he notched a goal and an assist as Kieran McKenna’s side beat Postecoglou’s men at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in November.

Solanke won’t like Tottenham’s interest in Delap

Just last summer, Solanke became Tottenham’s record signing and will have hoped to lead the line for the North London side throughout his six-year contract.

The 27-year-old has scored eight goals while creating three assists in 25 Premier League outings despite encountering fitness setbacks.

After scoring 19 top-flight goals for Bournemouth last season, Solanke will believe that he can become a prolific goal scorer in Tottenham colours.

However, if Spurs can land the services of Delap this summer, the former Bournemouth man will face serious competition for his place in the starting lineup.

Delap’s performances for Ipswich this term suggest that he is ready for regular Premier League football with a side that boast loftier ambitions than Ipswich, and should not be content with being a back-up option at his next club.

But Solanke should be concerned that Spurs are already seemingly lining up serious competition for his services after he moved to North London just last summer.
