Daniel Levy ‘to delight Tottenham fans again’ after Marc Guehi transfer update

Daniel Levy has been slowly working his way into Tottenham fans’ good books this summer.

The Spurs faithful were understandably sceptical when Levy launched into yet another revamp as soon as last season ended, but have been pleasantly surprised by the outcome so far.

Supporters have already taken to Thomas Frank, who has brought an air of optimism to Hotspur Way and appears to have already got a tune out of the players.

The Dane has also been backed more than many of his predecessors, both in terms of staff members and player arrivals.

Frank and Levy will both know that there is still plenty to do, but they could take another significant step forward following the latest update on Marc Guehi.

Tottenham weighing up move for Guehi this summer

Tottenham have already explored a deal for Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton this summer, and could be about to reignite their pursuit of a third player from Crystal Palace.

Spurs have long held an interest in Guehi, and saw a late bid for the centre-back swiftly rejected by the Eagles in the winter transfer window.

The England international has just one year remaining on his contract, and according to The Telegraph (21 July), is still on Tottenham’s radar.

Liverpool are in pole position to sign the 24-year-old, but the Lilywhites have not ruled out making an offer for Guehi.

The Crystal Palace star was integral in the Eagles’ historic FA Cup win, and is now open to a move to a bigger club after spending four seasons with the South Londoners.

All eyes are now on Levy, who could delight the Tottenham fans again this summer after already signing Mohammed Kudus and attempting to bring in Morgan Gibbs-White.

Guehi’s arrival could coincide with Cristian Romero’s departure

Guehi’s stock is extremely high, and the only way Spurs have any chance of convincing him to join is if they can guarantee him regular game time.

However, Spurs are already overstocked at centre-back, and would have to offload at least one key defender to make room for the Chelsea academy graduate.

Micky van de Ven is very unlikely to be sold, leaving Cristian Romero as the likely player to leave.

The Argentine has only two years left on his contract and does not seem convinced enough by Spurs’ long-term project to sign a new deal.

As such, Guehi’s arrival would likely spell the end for Romero at Tottenham, which could work out best for all parties in the long run.
