Daniel Levy ‘masterstroke revealed’ as shock £35m Tottenham transfer news drops

Daniel Levy will be a busy man at Tottenham this summer transfer window as he plots a resurgence after a disappointing season.

Tottenham are facing the prospect of being without UEFA Champions League football next season as they sit 14th in the Premier League with nine games left to play.

Having missed out on both domestic cup competitions, Spurs’ only chance of qualifying for the Champions League depends on their success in the UEFA Europa League.

Tottenham players may seek to leave the North London giants this summer if they do not qualify for the European competition.

Yves Bissouma wanted by Aston Villa

Yves Bissouma is among those who could leave Tottenham this summer, with Aston Villa already credited with a ‘shock’ interest in signing him.

Bissouma is a confirmed target for Aston Villa, according to TEAMtalk, and sources tell them that Unai Emery is a huge admirer of the midfielder.

The news outlet reported via their website on Wednesday (26 March) that the Birmingham-based club are therefore plotting a surprise move for the Mali international this summer.

As for Tottenham, they are willing to part ways with Bissouma, who is set to enter the final year of his contract with the Premier League club.

The 28-year-old has struggled to live up to his expectations at Spurs, who also feel they already have two direct replacements for him in the shape of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.

However, Postecoglou’s side will only sell Bissouma for the right price, with offers around £35million considered.

Levy to pull off Tottenham masterstroke

It would be a major masterstroke from Levy if he manages to sell Bissouma for anywhere near £35m.

It is worth noting that the midfielder turns 29 years old in August this year by which time he will be in the final months of his contract at Spurs.

Furthermore, his lack of consistency has been a major source of frustration during his three years in North London.

While Bissouma was highly regarded during his spell at Brighton, he has undoubtedly had a drop off since joining Tottenham.

Spurs signed him from Brighton for an initial sum of £25m in 2022 and would be lucky to recoup that sum this summer.
