‘Daniel Levy is about to be pushed out of Tottenham as Joe Lewis Trust makes move’
Daniel Levy is a man under fire at Tottenham Hotspur after sacking Ange Postecoglou in near-disrespectful circumstances.
Spurs announced Postecoglou’s exit on Friday (6 June), two and a half weeks after he won the Europa League title and 12 days since the Premier League season finished.
During that time, the former Celtic and Australia manager was left in the dark about where his future lies despite being Spurs’ most successful manager of the 21st Century.
Levy then did not make any official statement about Postecoglou’s departure when Tottenham announced that the Aussie would be leaving the North London club.

Joe Lewis family tipped to get rid of Levy after Postecoglou sack
Tottenham’s ownership structure isn’t a simple one.
Around 86 per cent of the club is owned by ENIC Sports Inc. Levy ultimately owns around 30% of ENIC, with the rest being owned by Joe Lewis‘ family trust.
The rest of Tottenham is owned by around 30,000 external shareholders.
Levy is calling the shots at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there’s no doubt about that.
Tottenham ownership | Shareholding |
ENIC Sports | 86.6% |
External shareholders | 13.4% |
However, recent developments at Spurs have led to fans questioning whether or not the chairman is losing control after Peter Charrington, an ENIC director, was installed as a non-executive director of the club.
Vivienne Lewis is also said to be Joe Lewis’ “heir apparent” and she’s been an extremely popular figure at Tottenham over the years. She’s been known to be friendly with former managers and ex-star player Harry Kane.
The Telegraph reported in August 2023 that “Levy will not leave Spurs until they succeed”. By winning the Europa League, they have succeeded to a degree but, as pointed out by Tom Morgan, “it may take a regime change” to cause the unpopular chairman to say goodbye.

Tottenham regime change in full swing
Charrington is now on the board, Vinai Venkatesham has joined this month as the new CEO and Donna-Maria Cullen has recently stepped down from her role as executive director.
That regime change is now in full swing, and with Levy’s name being left out of the official statement about Postecoglou’s exit, it does make you wonder whether or not the long-reigning chairman is finally losing his grip on the club.
Tottenham News has rounded up a selection of X posts from fans that are also thinking on the same wavelength, while others have also hit out at Lewis and Levy.
@RashleyAmy25: “Do dare is to do, or so they said. Ange dared and Ange did. Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis + his family honestly make me sick and ashamed to support this club.”
@nad_THFC: “Joe Lewis trust sack Ange ready for takeover?! Why has Levy not put his name to the sacking?! He usually does. I really hope something is happening behind the scenes and Levy is about to…be pushed out.”
@CoulsdonTHFC: “The Joe Lewis trust should force Levy to be the manager. Then he can be sacked when he doesn’t buy himself the quality of players needed to compete.”
@levynomics1882: “Charrington is impressive and the Board has needed strengthening for years. However, even if Levy goes, nothing changes unless ENIC also go – Joe Lewis has controlled the purse strings and has been comfortable with putting in £5m per year of his own money since they took over.”
@nah_THFC: “This appointment must’ve been some sort of strategic move by the Joe Lewis trust. The fans getting on Levy’s back must’ve meant something to them as it taints the overall brand of the club. Cullen leaving is massive, she had no reason to leave. Levy didn’t sign off the sacking.”
@Postecogniac: “Peter Charrington is the white knight on the Spurs board. He represents Joe Lewis directly, and more importantly, Vivienne Lewis, who despises Daniel Levy. His days at Spurs are coming to an end.”
@ROTS1882: “Charrington looks like someone drafted in by Joe Lewis or the Lewis family to take control, reset the direction, and steady the ship. And he’s started executing. A subtle but telling reminder of who really owns Tottenham – and who’s pulling the strings.”
