Cristian Romero ‘paves the way’ for Marc Guehi Tottenham move after what he said

Tottenham could be set to see a number of changes to the squad this summer.

Daniel Levy faces a big decision over the future of Ange Postecoglou in North London and once the managerial situation is clear, work will have to get underway.

After lifting the Europa League trophy, Spurs have to prepare themselves for life in the Champions League next season.

However, after a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League, some of the stars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be looking towards the exit door.

Cristian Romero eyeing move away from Tottenham

Although his season has been hindered by injuries throughout, leading to just 18 Premier League appearances, Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from Spurs.

As a result of his strong performances in the Europa League, Romero has caught the eye of Atletico Madrid, who have been credited with interest over a summer move.

With the 27-year-old under contract until 2027, if a good offer were on the table this summer, it could be the perfect time to cash in and gain the maximum.

Romero is seemingly keen on the potential move himself, as he has expressed a desire to play in La Liga.

While stating he is happy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the potential of the move to Madrid could be too big a pull to turn down.

Speaking to Gaston Edul (29 May), Romero said: “I would love to play in La Liga, it’s the one I’m missing.”

When asked specifically about his future, he added: “I’m going to give my best until the last day I’m here.

“I’m happy. They make me feel like an important player. Whatever the future holds for me, I’m welcome.”

Tottenham to turn to Marc Guehi

Romero is a big player for Tottenham, but if he is keen on an exit this summer, then the Lilywhites should cash in.

An exit could well pave the way for Marc Guehi to make a move to Tottenham, though, with Spurs having held interest for some time.

Back in the winter transfer window, Tottenham reportedly made a £70million bid for Guehi and they will be eager to follow that up this summer.

The 24-year-old is a fresh set of legs and has had another strong season for Crystal Palace this term, showing why Spurs can move on.

Both Romero and Guehi will be keen to be starting players and therefore, if Tottenham can cash in on the former, the latter could well join on a deal that could benefit all three parties.
