Arsenal academy star and Brandt: Three Gibbs-White alternatives for Tottenham
Morgan Gibbs-White’s proposed move to Tottenham is in jeopardy.
Nottingham Forest are attempting to block the transfer as they consider Tottenham’s approach to Gibbs-White to be unlawful.
Below, Tottenham Hotspur News suggests three potential alternatives to Gibbs-White that Tottenham may want to consider approaching.

Lazio ace Zaccagni could be perfect alternative to Gibbs-White
Gibbs-White emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting playmakers last season; someone who can unlock the tightest defence with a clever pass or piece of skill.
Data website FBRef has identified Lazio midfield Mattia Zaccagni as a player with similar abilities.
Zaccagni scored 10 goals and contributed nine assists for Lazio last season. He has 10 caps for Italy.
He’s the captain of the Biancocelesti and has several years left on his contract, so he wouldn’t come cheap, but is likely to prove more affordable than Gibbs-White nonetheless.
The opportunity to play in the Champions League would likely appeal to Zaccagni.

Julian Brandt could be the playmaker that Tottenham need
Julian Brandt has been a regular in the Borussia Dortmund team since 2019, and regularly provides healthy levels of goals and assists from his central midfield position.
Dortmund may be open to selling the German international if a suitable bid comes in, as his contract expires next year and Jobe Bellingham has been signed to play in the same position. He was a bit-part player during Dortmund’s Club World Cup run.
Brandt has plenty of experience playing at the highest level, something which Gibbs-White lacks, and would be a welcome addition to the Spurs squad.
Emile Smith-Rowe could be an exciting alternative to Gibbs-White
Tottenham are making a habit of trying to poach the playmakers of Premier League teams. First Mohammed Kudus, then Gibbs-White. So why not take a look at Fulham’s Emile Smith-Rowe?
Smith-Rowe has thrived in his role as the main creative outlet at Craven Cottage, and would fit well into Thomas Frank’s system.
As pointed out by FBref, he’s another who boasts very similar stats to Gibbs-White in a number of areas.
Appearances | Minutes Played | Goals | Assists |
40 | 2256 | 6 | 3 |
Yes, he’s a former Arsenal star, but if he has any ambition, a move to Spurs could tempt him.
The 24-year-old has only three England caps. He must surely be hoping to earn more.
If he has a good season at Tottenham and plays well in the Champions League, that could persuade Thomas Tuchel to give him a shot. He could end up taking Gibbs-White’s place in the England team.
However, Daniel Levy would need to stump up a lot of cash to convince Fulham to sell him.
