Ange Postecoglou to emerge as leading contender for English management job as Monday update drops
Ange Postecoglou is still waiting on his next managerial opportunity.
Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest back in October of last year, having failed to win any of his six games in charge at the City Ground.
Despite that, many felt it was a harsh decision by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, with Thomas Frank showing his admiration for Postecoglou ahead of Tottenham‘s November clash with Forest.
The shoe could soon be on the other foot too, as Frank is facing the sack at Tottenham following Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou could be tick the boxes for managerless EFL club
Postecoglou‘s time as Nottingham Forest manager was a total disaster, of that there is no debate.
And so whilst six games in charge was hardly enough time to imprint his philosophy onto the team, Marinakis has built a reputation as being a cutthroat owner, and he demands results from his managers fast.
The Australian didn’t enjoy a brilliant time of things with Tottenham either when it came to the Premier League.
Indeed, after leading Spurs to a fifth-placed finish in 2023-24, his side slumped to 17th last season, but did comfortably survive relegation points-wise, finishing 13 points above Leicester.
Following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship, they appointed former QPR boss Marti Cifuentes to take over from Ruud van Nistelrooy, in the hope he could lead them back to the top flight this term.
However, following the Foxes’ 2-1 home defeat to 23rd-placed Oxford United on Saturday, Cifuentes was sacked at the King Power, leaving the team sitting 14th in the second tier.
And, in an update from Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse via X on Monday, Leicester are understood to be looking to appoint an experienced manager, with former Foxes star Andy King in caretaker charge for now.
Postecoglou would certainly tick that box, and given the size of Leicester and some top quality players in that squad for Championship level, he could view that as an alternative route back to the Premier League.

Postecoglou could search past current Leicester frontrunners after experience update
Most major bookmakers have the majority of the current leading favourites for the Leicester job being either relatively young coaches, or those who don’t have much club management experience.
The aforementioned King, Russell Martin, Lee Carsley, Gary O’Neil, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane are all towards the top of the betting odds at the moment.
Postecoglou meanwhile, is currently sitting at odds of around 25/1 with most major bookmakers.
However, given this update regarding Leicester looking towards an experienced candidate, Postecoglou could soon leapfrog a number of more preferred fancies and into major contention.
It remains to be seen if he’d be interested in dropping down to the Championship though, and Leicester do still have a points deduction verdict hanging over their heads too.
