Ange Postecoglou outcast is now about to set Premier League alight at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou divided opinion during his time with Tottenham.

The Australian was loved by some Spurs fans for his abrasive character, but many were unable to look past the dismal domestic campaign that he oversaw last time out.

New incumbent Thomas Frank looks set to be well-backed by Daniel Levy, as the Lilywhites have been linked with countless big-money deals since his appointment.

However, the arrival of a new boss can often provide a shake-up to the squad, and there is one particular star who will fancy his chances of having a big impact in 2025/26.

Richarlison could be about to star for Tottenham in 2025/26

Richarlison is certainly one member of the Spurs squad who will have a point to prove under Frank this term.

It simply hasn’t worked out for the Brazilian since his move to N17 three seasons ago, but he will surely have renewed hope that he could have a big impact this term.

The 28-year-old struggled badly with injuries in 2024/25, but even when he was fit, he was largely overlooked by Postecoglou, especially in the Premier League.

Richarlison started just four league games all season, and while he came in for criticism from supporters at times, his goal record was actually strong considering the limited opportunities he received.

The frontman ended the campaign with four league strikes to his name, and had the highest goals per 90 figure of any Tottenham player in league action.

He was a hugely impactful player for Everton during his four-year spell on Merseyside, and gained a reputation for scoring big goals and producing important moments for his team.

The same cannot be said of his Spurs stint so far, but if both he and his team can get themselves up and running in the early stages, this could be the season when he comes good.

Richarlison could start for Frank in the opening few weeks

Dominic Solanke is a surprise inclusion in Tottenham’s squad to face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night, but his exact level of fitness remains unclear.

The former Bournemouth star has missed all but one of the Lilywhites’ pre-season games through injury, which will likely see him some way behind his teammates in terms of fitness and match sharpness.

With that in mind, it seems unlikely that he will be used from the start in the opening few weeks of the campaign, as Frank looks to get him back up to speed with the rest of his squad.

That could hand Richarlison the opportunity to lead the line in the first few outings, thus providing him with the chance to stake his claim to keep the shirt moving forward.

The stars may be about to align for the Brazilian, and he needs to take that opportunity to prove that he is still worthy of a long-term future at Spurs.
