Roberto De Zerbi told what needs to happen to avoid Tottenham sack ahead of crucial Everton clash

Roberto De Zerbi is nowhere near the sack at Tottenham yet.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who has responded to early talk about the Lilywhites manager.

The Italian steadied the ship last season and kept Tottenham in the Premier League.

However, he is yet to record a win this season, despite spending approximately £314million in the transfer market, including £100m on Sandro Tonali.

The 47-year-old will be under increasing pressure the longer that his expensively assembled side goes without three points.

Now, he has been given a timeframe for when he may be in actual trouble.

Wenham believes that De Zerbi is not in genuine sack danger at the moment.

The Lilywhite Rose account owner has told the manager the scenario in which he thinks a dismissal would be justified.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "I think, if we didn't win for 10 games or something like that, then I think that's a decent barometer of time.

"You've played more than quarter of the season and you're not winning a game, but I don't think we'll ever get to that point.

"I think we will beat Everton based on what I saw against Nottingham Forest, and that will be the springboard to a run of better results, and the team identifying itself."

How much would Tottenham have to pay to sack De Zerbi?

De Zerbi signed a five-year contract when he took over after Igor Tudor's exit.

It is believed to make the former Brighton man the third-highest paid boss in the top flight, with a salary of between £12-15m, behind only Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.

De Zerbi has only served less than six months, around 10 per cent of that deal, so the payout if he was sacked would be a huge one at the moment.

If it is the lower figure, it would leave Spurs with £54.6m to pay to terminate his contract.

If it was the higher one, then it would be a figure of £68.2m left to be paid if he was dismissed right now.

Those numbers would be slightly lower if he is handed the boot after 10 matches.
