Roberto De Zerbi now favourite to be sacked next in Premier League as Tottenham odds crash

Roberto De Zerbi has had the exact start he wouldn't wanted to this season at Tottenham.

The Italian arrived towards the end of last season, and banked some credit for keeping Spurs in the Premier League.

With that, the Lewis family handed over more than £300million to spend on transfers in north London.

Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Savio and Omar Marmoush were the big-money additions.

Despite that, Spurs go into the first extended international break of the season in the bottom three yet again.

After consecutive 17th-placed finishes, it's somehow getting worse.

Could Roberto De Zerbi be sacked?

The Italian was given a huge multi-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so it'd be a costly decision.

But, how long can this be allowed to go on?

There are arguments for both sides, with far too much change in recent years, with someone needing to be given time.

De Zerbi is seen as that manager by many.

But, as shared by major bookmakers, De Zerbi is now favourite to be sacked next in the Premier League.

Currently sitting at 9/4, those odds are dropping each week at the moment.

Who is to blame at Tottenham?

This isn't a short-term issue, it's been going on for years now.

Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor have all suffered the same fate in north London.

On top of that, the Lewis family have now spent hundreds of millions, so is it not the ownership, either?

The players have been inadequate and embarrassing for more than one season now, but there are never any concequences for that.

If nobody wants to buy them, then they're Spurs' issues.

Who is in charge of these transfers? Signings like Mykhailo Mudryk prove that De Zerbi is having a huge say, and maybe that's part of the issue.

Whether or not De Zerbi being sacked would change things remains to be seen, but at this stage, probably not.

There's not one area of the playing staff and board right now that are performing well, and that will only end in tears.
