Yves Bissouma return timeline set amid ‘determined’ push to resurrect Tottenham career

Yves Bissouma’s career at Tottenham had seemingly looked all but over.

The Mali international was one of his side’s standout performers in the Europa League final, but he has then been heavily linked with a move away from North London since the start of the summer.

Bissouma agreed personal terms to leave Tottenham, only to see a potential move to Galatasaray fall through in the final stages of the summer transfer window.

He is yet to feature in competitive action during the Thomas Frank era, but that could be about to change within the next few weeks.

Yves Bissouma eyeing Tottenham return before the end of October

Bissouma was recently left out of Tottenham’s squad for the Champions League, as the writing appeared to be on the wall for the midfielder.

Issues with lateness cropped up again ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season and Frank seemingly unimpressed, it looked inevitable that his departure would only be a matter of time.

The 29-year-old is currently battling an injury, which has limited his involvement in training of late, according to The Sun.

However, Bissouma is understood to be “determined” to work hard to try and regain his place in the Spurs side when he does return to full fitness.

He doesn’t think that his time in N17 is over, and is hoping to be able to fight his way back into contention.

The former Brighton star is eyeing a return to action before the end of October, and has every intention of trying to fight his way back into the fold, rather than resigning himself to an imminent departure.

Spurs have no need for Yves Bissouma

Bissouma has let himself down at Tottenham at times with the lack of discipline that he has shown, and it’s hard to see a way that he will be able to regain Frank’s trust.

The new boss has plenty of options available to him in the centre of midfield, with the trio of Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha and Pape Sarr all very impressive in the early stages of the campaign.

He also has Lucas Bergvall at his disposal, who was arguably one of the Lilywhites’ brightest players last season and has a huge future ahead of him.

With all of that quartet firmly ahead of Bissouma in the pecking order, it’s hard to see how he finds himself winning back a regular place in the side.

He may have every intention of resurrecting his career in North London, but it seems far more likely that he and the club will part ways at the end of the season.
