WWE superstar fires cheap dig at Tottenham after ‘major’ announcement

Tottenham have been the focus of many digs this season as a result of their position in the Premier League.

Tottenham fans were provided with some optimism on Thursday night when they secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Europa League at the expense of AZ Alkmaar.

However, that minor triumph will do little but paper over the growing cracks in North London that have emerged as a result of their failures on the pitch.

Football fans all around the world have taken time out of their day throughout the season to insult Tottenham, and it appears as though a WWE superstar has done the same.

Drew McIntyre insults Tottenham with title comment

Unless Tottenham can win the Europa League, it will end as another season without silverware, which has been an all too familiar feeling for those in North London.

Despite the hundreds of millions spent, and the emergence of several top academy talent, it has now been 17 years since Spurs last won a major trophy, and Drew McIntyre, otherwise known as Andrew Galloway, did not hesitate to fire a dig at Tottenham after the WWE announced they would be selling replica title belts with the branding of 13 “major European football clubs”.

Writing on X (14 March), he said: “That’s the only title Tottenham have seen in years,” followed by three laughing emojis.

Quite frankly, Tottenham have deserved the criticism and digs that have come their way this season, though they must use it as motivation to finally deliver back to the fans who have supported them through thick and thin.

Tottenham need a huge turnaround this summer

Not only will Tottenham have a decision to make on the future of Ange Postecoglou, but there are various other areas of the club that will need severe attention if they are to start progressing.

A 17-year wait for a trophy is simply unacceptable for a club of this size, but without tough decisions and, most importantly, the right decisions, things are not going to change anytime soon.

Daniel Levy has a huge task on his hands this summer to ensure that the failures of the current campaign aren’t replicated.
