Wolves vs Tottenham preview: Team news, lineups, supercomputer prediction

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham will travel to the West Midlands to take on Wolves at Molineux in the Premier League on Sunday.

Daniel Levy is expected to sack Postecoglou if Tottenham fail to advance to the semi-finals of the Europa League when they travel to Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April) for the second leg of their last-eight clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The score is currently 1-1 after the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (10 April), which means victory is needed in Germany.

Therefore, Postecoglou is likely to view the match with Wolves as an unnecessary distraction. However, victory at Molineux could provide the Spurs players with some much-needed confidence ahead of their trip to Germany.

Preview

Spurs’ Premier League season has been nothing short of a disaster, and the chances of the North London club qualifying for European competition via their league position are incredibly slim.

As a result, supporters aren’t likely to be too concerned about the outcome of the clash with Wolves, and while he wouldn’t admit it publicly, neither is Postecoglou.

However, equally, Spurs cannot afford another demoralising defeat ahead of the biggest game of their season and arguably Postecoglou’s career. Therefore, they still need to travel to the West Midlands with a professional attitude.

Meanwhile, Wolves look to be safe from relegation after moving 12 points clear of the bottom three with a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday (5 April).

Therefore, this match seems to be something of a dead rubber, which could make for an open contest with both teams not under too much pressure to produce a result.

Team news

Postecoglou has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski will miss the clash with Wolves, while Kevin Danso and Radu Drăgușin both remain sidelined.

Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert is a doubt, with Postecoglou opening up on a club leak after recent news regarding the Frenchman.

As for the hosts, Matheus Cunha is available again after serving a four-match suspension. However, Vítor Pereira has confirmed that the Brazilian will start on the bench, and Wolves will continue with the players who have helped the club go on a four-match unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, Pedro Lima is unavailable after twisting his ankle, while long-term absentees Enso Gonzalez Medina, Yerson Mosquera, Leon Chiwone and Sasa Kalajdzic remain sidelined.
