West Ham v Tottenham preview: Team news, lineups, supercomputer prediction

Tottenham will travel to face West Ham in their next Premier League fixture, but both sides have very little to play for.

Ange Postecoglou’s side recorded a 3-1 victory over Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May) in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final clash, and face a tough trip to Norway to see out the tie.

However, Tottenham will first face off with fierce rivals West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday (4 May), with the Hammers also enduring a disastrous domestic campaign.

Therefore, both sides will want a positive result. However, this game ranks low in Spurs’ priorities, which could mean Postecoglou makes wholesale changes.

Team news

Tottenham have been handed several injury blows, with Postecoglou confirming in his pre-match press conference that midfielder Lucas Bergvall is likely to miss the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, James Maddison has been sent to undergo scans on a knee injury, while Dominic Solanke is a doubt for the trip to the London Stadium.

Son Heung-min remains sidelined, as does long-term absentee Radu Drăgușin.

Supercomputer prediction

Given that Tottenham’s priorities lie elsewhere, and their woeful league form, even this poor West Ham side have been backed to beat Spurs.

Opta have given West Ham a 42.6 per cent chance of victory, with Tottenham backed at 32.3 per cent, and a draw given a probability of 25.1 per cent.

If Tottenham do lose, they will drop to 17th place in the Premier League, with West Ham leapfrogging them in the table.
