Tottenham’s Lankshear receives standing ovation for what he did in West Brom win
Tottenham will be proud after seeing Will Lankshear finally shine for West Brom in their 2-1 win against Watford on Saturday.
Spurs sent Lankshear out on loan to West Brom in the winter transfer window to allow him to get more first-team experience under his belt.
However, the transfer has not gone according to plan for the centre-forward, who has been restricted to just 237 minutes of action by Tony Mowbray.
This is why the 19-year-old was determined to grab his chance with both hands when he was handed only his second Championship start for Albion against Watford at The Hawthorns on 12 April.

Lankshear stars in West Brom 2-1 Watford
Lankshear’s previous start for West Brom came in their 1-1 draw with Millwall at The Den on 15 February, but he was taken off before the one-hour mark on that occasion.
This means the game against Watford was the striker’s full home debut for Albion, and he made sure he left a good impression.
Starting up top for Mowbray’s side, the Tottenham loanee excelled at holding up play, while also working hard off the ball.
Minutes | Accurate Passes | Total Shots | Shot Accuracy | Big Chances Missed | Touches | Dispossessed | Ground Duels Won | Aeriel Duels Won |
74 | 9/11 (82%) | 2 | 0/2 (0%) | 1 | 29 | 4 | 3/8 (38%) | 3/6 (50%) |
Lankshear will be disappointed not to have scored or assisted a goal, but he did everything else.
His efforts certainly did not go unnoticed among the West Brom fans, as they gave him a standing ovation when he was replaced by Adam Armstrong in the 74th minute.

West Brom fans continued their appreciation for Lankshear on social media, with many taking to X to wax lyrical about the Spurs ace.
One supporter described the youngster’s performance as ‘tremendous’, while another expressed his desire to see Albion sign him on a permanent deal.
Loved the standing ovation Lankshear got today. He was obviously gutted he didn't score but the see all stands applauding him for this work rate today was deserved.

Jeeps playing like that he'll definitely bag a goal or two!#wba
He should have scored but besides his finishing Will Lankshear was tremendous today.

Occupied defenders all game, his movement was brilliant & it’s no coincidence we conceded as soon as he went off and the ball didn’t stick up top anymore.
Want to see much more of him!#wba
Wonder if Lankshear would be available on a permanent

It’s one of them, I’d probably want someone more clinical on loan, but on a permanent, I’d love.
A lot of room and time to grow and improve to add to what he has already #WBA
Lankshear's link play has been outstanding today,..

Looks a really intelligent player, very determined, confidence is coursing through his veins, not scored, but having such a good target is manna from heaven for Tom Fellows..
LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PLAY A PROPER 9!

The space created for Grant from Lankshear – he did the same for AA goal Vs Sheff Wed.
Lankshear has been very good.
Awful referee.
This is still so poor, so unorganised in our press and defending in a block #WBA
If he continues to show these levels, I wouldn’t be against Lankshear again on loan next season #wba

Lankshear genuinely best striker in the league

Lankshear made a big difference yesterday, such a shame he didn’t cap his performance off with a goal#wba

Lankshear is going to be a top player, he played very well today and was unlucky not to get a goal. No idea why Armstrong was bought on at all, if making the change it should have been Dike, it changed our game entirely and we lost the ability to hold the ball up top. #WBA

Massive appreciation for Lankshear today as well, did everything but score, held the ball up so well and was a real focal point up top, absolutely class 🙌

Lankshear will now be determined to build on his performance against Watford and hopefully add goals to his tally between now and the end of the season.
