Tottenham ‘writing on wall’ as David Ornstein reacts to Postecoglou sack news

Ange Postecoglou may be on his way out of Tottenham soon, with David Ornstein confirming the sack news coming out of N17.

The Australian manager has endured a dismal domestic season at the North London outfit, losing 2-1 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday (21 April).

With expectations of the former Celtic boss’ departure, it feels like Daniel Levy may eventually pull the plug at the Lilywhites in the coming weeks.

Ornstein revealed that it’s increasingly possible to see the former Celtic boss leave the Lilywhites next summer, with Levy making a change.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on X (23 April), the journalist said: “A number of us have been reporting for quite some weeks now that Postecoglou is increasingly likely to depart in the summer and Tottenham make a change in the dugout.

“The writing does appear to be on the wall as a result of a disastrous season domestically.”

Levy needs right manager at Spurs next summer

Levy will arguably make a decision on Postecoglou sooner rather than later after what’s been an underwhelming campaign at the North London outfit.

The Australian manager has had to deal with several fitness issues, but the Lilywhites haven’t performed well even with a full fit squad.

Levy needs to take some blame at Spurs, and the fans have made their feelings known in recent weeks.

Tottenham will now have a crucial decision to make as they could potentially be looking to appoint their fifth manager in six years.

Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte all struggled to make a mark at the North London outfit, highlighting deeper issues at the club.

While Postecoglou can’t be defended, every manager in recent years has had a decent start in the dugout, which has then subsequently petered out.

There’s no guarantee that a new manager will turn things around at Spurs immediately, but the Australian manager’s exit feels like the right thing, as some fans have turned against him.

The saga is one to keep an eye on.
