Tottenham v Southampton result predicted by supercomputer

Tottenham host relegation-threatened Southampton on Sunday as they look to bounce back after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Lilywhites come into the game on the back of a loss to Chelsea which was their 16th loss of the Premier League season as pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou.

Relegation is almost confirmed for Ivan Juric’s side as they have had a terrible season, with just two Premier League wins in 30 games.

Postecoglou’s side are no match to the Saints in terms of quality on paper, but Spurs’ turbulent form does raise doubts in the minds of the fans.

Tottenham v Southampton predicted by a supercomputer

Spurs’ Premier League season is a lost cause as they are likely to secure a mid-table finish. This has been one of the most disappointing campaigns for Tottenham and the only saving grace could be winning the UEFA Europa League.

The step towards winning the European competition starts with their quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt, which is scheduled for 10 April, but before that, Tottenham will host Southampton.

Postecoglou is expected to rest some of his key players against the South Coast side in preparation for the Europa League clash.

Despite resting his key personnel, Tottenham are predicted to cruise to a victory, as per Opta’s supercomputer.

The North London outfit have a 63 per cent chance of winning the home game, whereas Southampton have been given only a 17 per cent chance of walking away with all three points.

The supercomputer has predicted an 18 per cent chance of a draw. Tottenham are clear favourites to win the game which should give them some confidence going into the Europa League clash.

Europa League win must for Postecoglou

Postecoglou’s job is in danger and if he doesn’t guide the Lilywhites to a Europa League trophy, he could be gone before the summer.

Daniel Levy has given an ultimatum to the Australian that European football for next season is the bare minimum objective this season and the only way Spurs can achieve that now is by winning the Europa League.

If Postecoglou manages to win the Europa trophy, he’ll not only ensure European football for next season but also end Spurs’ 16-year-trophy drought. Winning Tottenham’s first major trophy in over a decade will go a long way in securing his job.
