Tottenham v Southampton preview: Team news, betting odds, supercomputer prediction

Tottenham will be looking to bounce back immediately from their loss against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Lilywhites will host relegation-favourites Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after what was a disappointing night on Thursday (3 April) against their bitter rivals.

Ange Postecoglou’s men put together a weak performance at Stamford Bridge as they were comfortably beaten 1-0, on a night that did no favours for Postecoglou’s standings with the Spurs faithful.

While Tottenham are pretty much safe from the threat of relegation at this point, they could end up dropping down to 16th in the Premier League, which would be seen as unacceptable.

There is already an increasing amount of pressure on Postecoglou’s job right now, and the need for some positive results couldn’t be any higher.

Tottenham vs Southampton preview

Tottenham are desperately trying to climb the Premier League table in a bid to finish as high as possible to salvage the season.

It has been a disappointing campaign on all fronts, and while they have little to play for in the grand scheme of things, supporters will be expecting them to put pressure on those above them and not finish any lower than they currently are.

A win would also provide Spurs with some much-needed momentum before their Europea League quarter-finals, as that competition is set to make or break their entire season.

Team news for Tottenham v Southampton

Micky Van de Ven made his return to the Tottenham side against the Blues, which was a welcome sight, even though it didn’t lead to a positive result.

However, Dejan Kulusevski, Kevin Danso, Richarlison and Radu Dragusin are all ruled out for Spurs as they continue to struggle with injuries this season.

The Saints are without Flynn Downes due to suspension, while Juan Larios, Ross Stewart, and Will Smallbone are all out with injuries.
