Ange Postecoglou’s side will host Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Monday.

Tottenham have very little left to play for in the Premier League.

After securing the biggest win of Postecoglou’s Spurs reign by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April) to reach the UEFA Europa League semi-final, Tottenham’s full focus will be on that competition.

Therefore, Postecoglou is likely to view the match with Forest on 21 April, for which the Australian is expected to make nine Tottenham changes, as an unnecessary distraction.

However, victory against the Reds could allow the Spurs players to continue building momentum ahead of their semi-final against Bodø/Glimt.

There has been a lot of tension around Tottenham this season, with protests against Daniel Levy expected to continue.

However, when Forest visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the mood is likely to be a celebratory one after the win against Frankfurt.

As a result, this could translate onto the pitch in the Spurs players’ performances. However, whatever happens on Monday will have very little impact on Tottenham’s season, and a win would be nothing more than a confidence booster going into the North London club’s European semi-final.

Meanwhile, Forest are chasing a UEFA Champions League place and have it all to play for between now and the end of the season.

Therefore, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side will be well up for the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, especially as they look to bounce back after three straight defeats, which could spell trouble for Postecoglou’s side.

Postecoglou has confirmed that Son Heung-min will miss the clash with Forest, while James Maddison is a doubt.

However, Kevin Danso is available again after returning against Frankfurt, while Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are also both fit again.

For the visitors, Nuno has confirmed that Olaoluwa Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will need to be assessed ahead of the trip to North London.
