Tottenham v Newcastle preview: Team news, betting odds, lineups, where to watch

Ange Postecoglou will be keen for Tottenham to return to winning ways when they take on Newcastle United on Saturday.

Postecoglou’s men are set to welcome the Magpies to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 4 January for their first game of 2025.

Their form across the season thus far has been massively inconsistent and, if the Australian sees his team fall to defeat this weekend, it will add even more pressure upon his head as his side are currently winless in three.

Preview

Although Spurs have netted five goals in their last three games, they’ve not managed to end a game with all three points to their name since their 5-0 victory over Southampton on 15 December.

Newcastle have been in particularly impressive form recently, meanwhile, as they’ve won all of their last five games.

Thanks to their recent performances, the Magpies are fifth in the league and could be well on their way to earning one of the coveted Champions League spots.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are currently 11th in the top flight and have plenty of pressure surrounding the players and Postecoglou.

If Spurs leave the London Stadium as losers on Saturday, it’s hard to see how Daniel Levy could keep the Australian in his role, especially with the January transfer window now open.

Saturday’s clash looks set to be an intriguing affair with the game there to win for both sides.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle

Although Tottenham will no doubt be looking to get back to winning ways, with the form that Newcastle have shown over the last month or so, it feels like Eddie Howe’s men will have far too much quality for them to handle.

Spurs’ defence is still largely thrown together and doesn’t really instil an awful lot of confidence in fans.

Isak has been in killer form in front of goal and could well prove the difference between the teams on the day.
