Tottenham v Newcastle postponement latest after Met Office update
Tottenham Hotspur’s match with Newcastle United on Saturday does not appear to be under any immediate postponement threat following a weather update by the Met Office.
Adverse weather including a yellow warning for snow has been projected on Saturday (4 January) leading into the Premier League fixture, though the advanced undersoil heating system and gold-standard facilities in place will ensure the playing surface at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remains immaculate.
Various matches in the UK were postponed on New Year’s Day due to adverse weather including flooding and high winds, with temperatures set to drop below freezing in many parts of the country.
Throughout Friday, temperatures in London will fluctuate between -2 degrees and three degrees celsius, with freezing temperatures striking the capital ahead of the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.
Tottenham v Newcastle will be safe from weather
Only one Premier League match has so far taken the plunge to the weather this season, namely the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool scheduled for 7 December at Goodison Park, due to the effects of Storm Darragh.
The top flight rarely risks any threat from the elements due to the advanced heating systems in place at stadiums as a league-wide requirement; the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium boasts some of English football’s most impeccable facilities in this regard.
Supporters are however advised to take caution when travelling to and from the game, which itself is an increasingly important occasion for Ange Postecoglou’s side to get back on track.

It will be far from straightforward against a revitalised Newcastle outfit who have enjoyed a largely impressive record against Spurs down the years, and recently swept Manchester United aside with ease.
A win would move Spurs back into the top half of the table above Brighton, who host rivals Arsenal in Saturday’s teatime kick-off.
