Tottenham v Bournemouth result predicted by supercomputer

Tottenham Hotspur face Bournemouth on Sunday with both sides keen to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side looked to be getting back towards their best form with three league victories in a row, but that run was halted by Manchester City last week and a sense of panic has returned to Spurs.

Tottenham exited both the FA Cup and EFL Cup in the midst of that winning streak, and Thursday’s 1-0 loss to AZ in their Europa League last-16 first leg has only worsened their prospects for this season.

Getting back into the winners’ circle against a Bournemouth side who’ve lost their last two in the league amid progression in the FA Cup would paper over the cracks, but that’ll be much easier said than done.

Tottenham predicted to struggle v Bournemouth

Tottenham’s trip to the Vitality Stadium in December was one of many which hasn’t gone to plan this term, and proved a starting point for one of the worst runs of form seen in North London for many a year.

A Dean Huijsen header resulted in a 1-0 loss which marked the start of eight defeats in just 10 Premier League games, as Spurs embarked on a run of one win in 11 and slipped from sixth to 15th in the table.

Tottenham and Bournemouth have both surprised people this season, for opposing reasons

Ahead of Sunday’s rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Opta’s Supercomputer has predicted that Spurs have a 37.1 per cent chance of victory – a fraction less than Bournemouth‘s 38.5 per cent.

With a draw the third-likeliest result at 24.4 per cent despite the narrow margins between the two sides, Tottenham are therefore up against it in their bid to prevent Bournemouth doing the double over them.

Ange Postecoglou under pressure as Tottenham spiral continues

Although their three-match winning run, prior to last week’s loss at the Etihad, helped to reverse the seemingly endless slide down the Premier League table, Spurs have nothing to play for domestically.

There may only be 11 points between Tottenham and the Premier League’s current European places, but there’s also a log-jam of six clubs separating sixth-placed Newcastle and Spurs down in 13th.

One of those is Bournemouth, and having lost their last two to Wolves and Brighton, the Cherries will be aiming to expose the Lilywhites’ evident defensive frailties with record signing Evanilson back in the side.

Thursday’s loss at AZ leaves Spurs stuck in their latest rut, and if they fail to turn things around in next week’s second leg, Bournemouth could be the last team Tottenham face with Postecoglou at the helm.
