Tottenham transfers: Rayan Cherki ‘says yes’ to Premier League move

Tottenham target Rayan Cherki is finally set to move to the Premier League this summer.

This summer is going to be huge for Tottenham, and before any plans are put into place on a recruitment front, the future of Ange Postecoglou needs to be decided.

The Spurs boss is still under pressure in North London despite winning their first major trophy in 17 years, and the lack of clarity over that situation will hinder their ability to recruit early.

However, once sorted, recruitment is going to play a deciding role in the success they can find next year, with news of a deal for Cherki emerging.

Cherki makes transfer decision amid Tottenham interest

With Champions League football on the horizon for Spurs next season, the need for reinforcements has never been more evident.

Tottenham needs new bodies through the door to cover several positions, though bolstering their attacking lineup will be high up on the list of priorities.

Lyon starlet Cherki was linked with a move to Tottenham, but according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Frenchman has “said yes” to a move to Manchester City.

Cherki believes that a move to Manchester aligns with his ambition of reaching the top of football, and Pep Guardiola’s side sare said to have already made contact to work out the finer details.

At 21 years old, Cherki has a boatload of potential, and if this deal is to go through, it will go down as a missed opportunity for Spurs, who could have sealed one of Europe’s brightest prospects.

Tottenham need attacking depth

If Spurs are to compete in various competitions next season, they will need far more depth than they have had on show this season.

Ultimately, with the Europa League a priority, Tottenham didn’t have the squad to cope with the demands of that alongside Premier League football, and that will need to change this summer.

After finishing 17th in the Premier League, Spurs will be afforded no margin for error when it comes to the decisions that they make this summer.
