Tottenham news round-up: Yoane Wissa pushes for transfer as £52m deal agreed

Tottenham have picked up the pace as the summer window approaches its end.

Daniel Levy has been criticised for his transfer window so far, with signings becoming far and few in between as the months have progressed.

However, the Tottenham Chairman has expressed his desire to win the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League soon. As a result, fans will hope Spurs’ humiliating 4-0 pre-season defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena (7 August) has urged him to make things happen.

With just over a week until their opening Premier League game against Burnley is played, the Lilywhites are getting busy as Tottenham News brings you the latest from Hotspur Way.

Tottenham prepare £26million Baris Alper Yilmaz offer

Tottenham are interested in Baris Alper Yilmaz as a possible replacement for Son Heung-min.

While Wilson Odobert has emerged as a player who could slip into that left wing position, it seems the club are keeping their options open.

The 25-year-old’s agent has been in contact with Tottenham, who are preparing an offer of a package worth around £26million, according to Turkish outlet Fotospor (6 August).

Spurs’ imminent proposal is believed to consist of an initial £22m bid, as well as a further £4m of add-ons, but that is slightly shy of Galatasaray’s valuation of £34m.

While he may not be the first choice replacement for Son, it has been suggested that he could give Manor Solomon a run for his money.

Yoane Wissa ‘pushing to join’ Newcastle United

Yoane Wissa is a name that has been linked to Tottenham since the transfer window first opened.

The Lilywhites were interested, but cooled their advances as their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus intensified. But after Kudus had signed at Hotspur Way, Spurs reportedly reignited their interest in the Brentford forward.

Spurs supporters know just how good Wissa can be

However, it seems to be too little, too late, where Tottenham are concerned.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X (8 August), Wissa is now “pushing to join” Newcastle United. It is understood that club-to-club negotiations are underway, with the Magpies being his desired destination.

This development is expected to prompt Spurs to look at other targets, with Nicolas Jackson one player on their radar. However, the Chelsea striker also seems to have a preference for Newcastle, so Levy will need to work his magic to seal the deal.

PSG agree £52m fee for Ilya Zabarnyi

Tottenham have been desperate to add another defender to their ranks, with Ilya Zabarnyi believed to be a viable option.

However, the Lilywhites would have needed to enter a fierce transfer battle with PSG, who were already advanced in their negotiations with the player and Bournemouth. And unfortunately for Spurs, it now seems that the Parisian club have beaten them to the final punch.

According to L’Equipe (7 August), Bournemouth and PSG reached an agreement of around £52m for Zabarnyi. It is now understood that he will sign a five-year deal at the French club.

This will come as a huge blow for Tottenham, who could face the defender when they take on PSG in the Super Cup final.
