Micky van de Ven completes Tottenham medical, formal announcement to be made today – report
Tottenham are now expected to formally announce the signing of Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven on Wednesday, according to Sky Sports News.
According to Sky Sports (8 August), the Dutch defender has already completed his medical ahead of his £43million move from the German Bundesliga side and Spurs are expected to announce their seventh new signing of the summer.
Van de Ven was at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (6 August) to watch his new side beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in a friendly for the people of Ukraine and it is believed Ange Postecoglou is hoping to add another centre-half after van de Ven (Evening Standard, 7 August).

Spurs making a statement
This is yet another excellent piece of business completed by Spurs and Postecoglou as the Australian looks to kick off his new Tottenham Hotspur revolution.
After signing Dejan Kulusevksi on a permanent basis from Juventus and also adding James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Guglielmo Vicario to his squad, Tottenham certainly look well-stocked heading into the campaign.

And Van de Ven is just the defensive addition they need, given his burgeoning potential, current defensive class and suitability to Postecoglou’s progressive tactical system.
£43m may seem a lot of money for the North Londoners to splash out but the Dutchman’s potential and defensive abilities make him too good an opportunity to pass up as the former Celtic manager is desperate to shore up his defence with more quality and youthful exuberance.
Not only is he progressive and proactive with his play on the ball where he ranks in the top seven per cent of all centre-backs across Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons, as per FBref, which shows his ability to bring the ball out from the back – a trait that Postecoglou can take full advantage of, but he is exceptionally quick which could prove incredibly useful in Spurs’ potential high-line which Postecoglu incorporated excellently at Celtic.
Spurs are certainly making a statement already this summer, having completed several acquisitions including the permanent signings of Kulusevski and Pedro Porro.
Many neutral fans may already be counting Spurs out ahead of the new season, but things are now set up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for them to cause some exciting surprises in the new campaign.
In other Tottenham news, it is a big season ahead for one key Spurs attacker after an underwhelming campaign last term.
