Tottenham told to ‘get rid of Vicario’ in shock transfer, replacement mooted

Tottenham have been urged to part ways with Guglielmo Vicario this summer.

The Italian has been an ever present since signing for Spurs, but has been slammed for mistakes throughout his spell in N17.

With that being said, the 28-year-old did return from injury this season and still managed to re-take the place of January signing Antonin Kinsky.

Now that the season is over and the main transfer window is approaching, there is every chance that Vicario could be moved on by the North London club.

Vicario could be set for Tottenham exit

It can be frustrating to watch the former Empoli man at times, as he can showcase his talent and make silly mistakes within the same 90 minutes.

This inconsistency has caused problems and was a regular occurrence under Ange Postecoglou throughout the most recent Premier League season.

With the Australian departing the Lilywhites this summer and Thomas Frank potentially coming in from Brentford, changes could be in the pipeline.

That could see the Italian keeper on the chopping block in the coming weeks as the transfer window looks set to open again on 16 June.

If former Tottenham man David Bentley gets his way, the North London outfit will be on the lookout for a new keeper as a replacement for Vicario.

Speaking to Odds Checker (10 June), he said: “I would get rid of him, if there’s another goalkeeper out there that they can make a move for, I’d do that!”

Tottenham could eye Vicario replacement this summer

There is generally a shortage of top goalkeepers throughout the Premier League right now, as they are so hard to come by.

That isn’t to say that Spurs wouldn’t be able to get good value out of a new shot stopper signing if they were to go down that road this summer.

Ironically, Frank won’t be able to add Kelleher to his squad if he joins, as the Irishman has already completed a move to Brentford this summer.

As a result, it will be interesting to see what decision the Dane makes and what that would mean for the future of Vicario in N17.
