Tottenham told to back Mauricio Pochettino now after shock new manager developments
Ange Postecoglou has hit lows that he didn’t know existed this season at Tottenham, as things continue to go from bad to worse.
As well as sitting 14th in the Premier League, the Lilywhites have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, with only the Europa League left to play for.
This has led to plenty of questions surrounding the future of their Australian boss and whether a change is needed in North London.
Jamie O’Hara has already picked out who could be the perfect successor to Postecoglou if Daniel Levy decides to pull the trigger and sack him.
Jamie O’Hara selects perfect new Tottenham manager
There is no doubt that Spurs have had some awful luck this term.
Injuries within the Tottenham squad have piled up and several key players have been missing which has left Postecoglou short of options and desperate.
Despite additions being needed, Daniel Levy remained relatively tight on money in the winter transfer window but did scramble to sign Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel.
In addition to this, Postecoglou has reiterated the fact that he always wins a trophy in his second season with a club which has piled the pressure on the North London outfit to deliver.
However, O’Hara has suggested that a new manager is needed as he told Grosvenor Sport: “If Tottenham were to bring back Mauricio Pochettino, he would bring a real difference back to the side.
“He was more organised than Ange Postecoglou, and his Tottenham was a harder team to break down, playing that disciplined, counter-attacking football. Right now, there’s a real lack of organisation, leadership, and that winning mentality.
“If Pochettino were to return, he’d have to bring in some of his own players and address the fact that some of the current squad just aren’t good enough. I genuinely believe Tottenham would be better under Pochettino—I can’t see it getting any worse than Postecoglou.
“But the club has to back Pochettino if he came back – and when I say back him, I mean really back him. Stop signing ‘maybes’ and start signing top-class players. We used to bring in difference-makers like Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart, and Mousa Dembele. Spurs need to get back to that level.”

Mauricio Pochettino could return to Tottenham
With the pressure mounting on Postecoglou’s shoulders, it is the former Spurs boss Pochettino who has emerged as the shock favourite to take the role at Tottenham should the position open.
You can certainly see why this would excite supporters given how much the boss was admired during his previous stint with the Lilywhites.
Furthermore, as O’Hara points out, the boss had his side playing some good football which is something supporters are dying to see again.
With that being said, Spurs still didn’t win a trophy under Pochettino’s management and Levy did part ways with him suggesting that he could well be the key problem rather than a manager.
That’s not to say the criticism of the current boss isn’t understandable, there are clear reasons to have frustrations with Postecoglou and potentially he is not the man to take Spurs forward.
However, clubs should also tread carefully when it comes to appointing former managers for a second stint as it would disappoint supporters if their previously good memories were undermined by less successful times this round.
