Tottenham told they’re helping English football as Levy pulls off major coup
Tottenham have appointed Vinai Venkatesham as their chief executive officer, and he could potentially transform Spurs.
Venkatesham spent four years at Arsenal before leaving last summer and pulled off a major coup as they beat Newcastle United to his signature.
Daniel Levy’s standing at Spurs hasn’t changed, with the CEO set to join next summer, but significant changes may be on the cards in N17.
While the senior men’s team will possibly benefit from his arrival, the women’s team have something to look forward to as well.

Venkatesham could transform Tottenham women’s team
Venkatesham’s arrival will benefit the North London outfit’s women’s team, Henry Winter says.
The World Soccer journalist claims that the Lilywhites’ incoming CEO is a huge advocate of the women’s game, which will benefit it nationally.
Winter also feels Venkatesham’s return is good news for English football due to his reputation, which includes “belief in communication and collectivity”.
Women’s Super League table (2024/25) | Points |
9. Totttenham | 18 |
10. Leicester City | 16 |
11. Aston Villa | 13 |
12. Crystal Palace | 9 |
Winter wrote on X (12 April): “When Venkatesham left Arsenal, the disappointment wasn’t only amongst staff, football department and fans. Women’s football lost a powerful advocate. Vinai was a driving force in the game in more women’s games being played in club stadia. Huge supporter of the women’s game.
“Spurs women’s team will benefit from his arrival as CEO. And so will the women’s game nationally having such a strong and widely-respected voice back in the corridors of power.
“Also respected amongst other clubs and leagues for his calm, intelligence and belief in communication and collectivity. Vinai’s return is good news for English football generally as well as Spurs specifically.”
When Vinai Venkatesham left #AFC the disappointment wasn’t only amongst staff, football dept and fans (although nb his successor Richard Garlick is well liked by AST). Women’s football lost a powerful advocate. Vinai was a driving force in the game in more women’s games being…

Venkatesham has big task on hands at Spurs
Ahead of next summer, Ange Postecoglou’s future at Spurs is up in the air after what’s happened this season.
Daniel Levy won’t be happy finishing 14th in the Premier League, and it’s surprising that the co-chairman has stayed with the Australian manager this long.
The former Celtic boss will arguably lose his job if the North London outfit fail to win the Europa League this season.
Tottenham drew 1-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the quarter-finals at home, and they have a massive tip to Germany coming up.
While Postecoglou can be excused for some of the poor results due to several injury issues in recent months, most first-team players are back from the sidelines, and the displays haven’t improved.
Venkatesham will be coming into a seemingly broken Spurs team if the Australian manager is sacked before his arrival and may have a role to play in appointing the next manager.
The incoming CEO’s relationship with other clubs could potentially help the Lilywhites foster better links in the market.
It will be interesting to see how he goes about his business in N17.
