Tottenham told ‘now is the time to sell’ after North London exit news

Tottenham may be about to lose several first-team players in the summer transfer window if they fail to win the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou.

Focus in North London will be entirely on the Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt, given that it is their only remaining chance of silverware, and perhaps more importantly, their only route into European football for the new season.

Spurs lead the Norwegian side 3-1 after the first leg, but Postecoglou will be wary of facing them away from home as they look to cement their spot in the final of the Europa League, where the likelihood is that Manchester United will be awaiting them.

Only then will recruitment plans be put into place, but Spurs have been told to sell one of their key players now and take advantage while his stock is still high.

Cristian Romero exit edges closer as Atletico Madrid agree terms

Not only is Postecoglou’s future in doubt, but the same can be said for several players at Tottenham, many of whom have been linked with moves away.

Cristian Romero is the latest to have that fate, having reportedly agreed terms on a deal to sign for Atletico Madrid, and Sky Sports pundit Dougie Critchley believes that now is the time to cash in on the Argentinian international.

Writing via X, he said: “Two years left on his deal if Atletico Madrid want Cristian Romero, now is the time to sell him.

“Can imagine him being a success there, but he’s fairly injury prone and, in my opinion, his rashness spreads panic in the backline. If you can get £50m-£60m for him, I’d take it.”

Romero exit could spark mass exodus at Spurs

Romero’s exit would leave a massive hole in Tottenham‘s backline, while also leaving them in need of a replacement this summer.

Tottenham already have a huge few months ahead of them, and that task will only get bigger as players seek talks to depart North London.

All focus will be on the Europa League for now, but it won’t be long until that turns to the summer, with plenty of decisions to be made.
