Tottenham ‘to take Enzo Maresca’ after brand new Chelsea reveal in group chat

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is in doubt, despite lifting the Europa League this season.

The Australian manager did what he promised by ending the 17-year wait for a trophy in his second season in north London.

However, Premier League form suffered as a result, and a 17th-placed finish may not be enough for him to keep his job.

There have been plenty of names mentioned in relation to the potential vacancy, and after Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League victory, Enzo Maresca is the latest to be suggested.

Jamie O’Hara eyes up Maresca for Tottenham

Supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been divided over the managerial situation, which only increased after the European victory.

Daniel Levy has a difficult decision ahead of him, and for someone who is trying to save his reputation, the task is even tougher.

Supporters will anticipate hearing an update on the future of Postecoglou soon, as the summer transfer window is about to open.

If the chief was to make a change, though, Maresca is someone who could be on the list of replacements this summer.

Given his own unpopularity at Stamford Bridge, he, too could be pushed towards an exit this summer, despite picking up European silverware.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (28 May), Carlton Cole revealed the feelings of Chelsea supporters as he said: “I’m in a group chat and I hear these boys complaining week in, week out that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. In-game management.”

Jamie O’Hara jumped in to defend the Italian as he replied: “Mate, he’s a young manager. He’s still learning.”

Cole replied: “Yeah, I already know that. I know that, but tell that to the Chelsea fans that see him week in, week out.”

When O’Hara claimed he liked him, he was then posed with the question of whether he would take him at Tottenham, to which he replied: “Yeah, I would. Yeah, 100 per cent.”

Maresca could be as risky as Postecoglou

Chelsea will be pleased with their season, having won the Conference League and finished fourth in the Premier League table.

However, there are still plenty of unhappy faces in West London, and given the two managers divide their fan bases in similar ways, turning to Maresca could be a risk.

Maresca could be an option for Tottenham.

His managerial statistics are decent, although he does not have that high-level experience that Levy could be looking for in his preparation for next season.

As it stands, it seems like too risky a move to be the catalyst behind a Postecoglou exit.
