Tottenham to ‘sack Ange Postecoglou’ within hours – ‘I hate to say it but…’

Ange Postecoglou’s time as the Tottenham manager is finally coming to an end.

There have been shouts to sack Postecoglou for weeks, as an abysmal run of one win in six games saw Spurs fall to 15th place in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s last hope of success this season depends on the UEFA Europa League, in which they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their quarter-final tie in Germany on Thursday (17 April) after playing out a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

The North London giants will be without European football next season if they crash out against the Bundesliga club, and therefore, risk losing their best players this summer.

Spurs to sack Postecoglou before next Premier League fixture

Postecoglou’s future as the Tottenham manager will likely depend on whether or not they progress further in the Europa League.

However, Spurs may be in for disappointment, as Gabby Agbonlahor has been impressed by Frankfurt and expects Postecoglou and Co. to crash out of the Europa League in Germany.

“I think Manchester United go through and Spurs don’t”, Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT (17 April, 6:35 am).

“I think Frankfurt are a very good team, lost only two out of the last 24 in Europa League ties.

“I think it’ll be a tough night tonight for Spurs.”

Meanwhile, Alan Brazil insisted that a defeat against Frankfurt would signal the end of Postecoglou’s tenure as the Spurs boss.

Brazil said, “I think if Spurs go out, he’s gone. I hate to say it but I think he is.”

Agbonlahor went one step further and suggested that Levy may sack the former Celtic manager before Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Monday, 21 April.

“I think he’s gone in the next couple of days”, Abgonlahor added. “I think he might even go out before the weekend’s game.

“Friday, could go because that’s the only reason maybe Daniel Levy is not sacking him quite yet, because he did it with Mourinho, didn’t he, before a cup competition final. So, it wouldn’t surprise me.”

Levy to appoint interim manager at Tottenham

Therefore, it may only be a matter of hours before Postecoglou is sacked.

Levy could opt to appoint an interim manager to see out the remaining six games of the season, with Ryan Mason being an obvious choice.

Mason has held the fort for the Premier League on two occasions before and could do the same if Postecoglou is fired.

This would allow Levy to fast-track the search for a permanent replacement for the Greek-Australian tactician.

Several managers, including Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, are said to be on his radar.
