Tottenham to host NFL matches into 2029-2030 season as lucrative deal extended

Tottenham have extended their deal with the NFL that will now see them host matches right through to the 2029/2030 campaign, according to the Evening Standard.

The UK online outlet (14 September) reports that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, now formally christened the ‘Home of the NFL in the UK’, will stage at least two regular season games each year between now and the autumn of 2029.

The NFL, which invested £10million in the initial building of the 62,850-seater ground, pays a rental fee to Tottenham for each game, with Spurs also profiting from food, drink and merchandise sales.

“Our partnership with the NFL has been integral to our wider vision for the stadium and delivering a sports and entertainment destination in London,” Spurs chairman Daniel Levy told Evening Standard.

“Creating additional recurring sources of revenue to reinvest in our football activities is a key part of the club’s financial model.

Huge financial boost

This latest update certainly comes as a piece of promising news for Levy and Spurs as a whole as they continue their lucrative and special relationship with the NFL.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become one of the major sites of London since it opened in 2019 as the third largest football stadium in England after Wembley and Manchester United’s Old Trafford.

The new build has become one of Spurs’ main revenue streams, especially through their partnership with the NFL, so this whopping new extension will now certainly aid Levy’s quest to continue to grow Spurs into one of Europe’s most sustainable and elite sides both on and off the pitch.

Tottenham certainly aren’t reaching those elite milestones on the pitch having failed to qualify for the Champions League last season after their dreadful Premier League finish, which will have come as another major source of income for the club.

But this NFL partnership extension will more than stem the tide financially even if they fail to make Europe’s grandest club competition for next season.

Levy will be hoping his summer appointment in Ange Postecoglou and the impressive summer recruitment they underwent during the transfer window could be the refreshing start they need to build towards becoming one of the giants both domestically and on the European stage.

For now, the club will be revelling in their amazing stadium and the stunning financial opportunities it brings.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs have reached an agreement on personal terms for the permanent signing of one Croatian top talent.
