Tottenham ‘to announce Angel Gomes signing in days’ after confirmed Lille exit news
Angel Gomes appears to be one step closer to joining Tottenham after a major update on his future.
Gomes is a long-term target for Tottenham.
The Lilywhites have had a hugely disappointing domestic campaign, putting Daniel Levy under pressure to add players of a higher calibre with more experience to their ranks to guide the younger players.
And it looks as though the Spurs supremo has the perfect opportunity to wrap up the signing of Gomes within a matter of days after the midfielder shared an update on his future.

Gomes announces Lille exit with heartfelt Instagram post
Tottenham would have been aware that Gomes’ contract with Lille was set to expire this summer, and the 24-year-old has now confirmed he will be leaving the Ligue 1 side.
The Manchester United academy graduate posted a heartfelt message via his personal Instagram account on Monday (19 May), thanking Lille and the fans for his time in Northern France.
Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
24/25 | 14 | 1 | 1 |
23/24 | 31 | – | 8 |
22/23 | 36 | 2 | 6 |
21/22 | 24 | 1 | 1 |
Gomes wrote, “After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye. This club has been more than just a team — it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.”
Gomes’ time at Lille quickly saw him become an integral part of the French side, as he was used in a variety of positions across midfield before injuries hampered his final season.
His performances earned him an England call-up last summer, with Gomes making his debut in September and earning four caps to date for the Three Lions.
Tottenham can wrap up the signing of Gomes
Now that Gomes has officially announced he is leaving Lille, nothing is stopping Tottenham from signing their target. As a result, a transfer could theoretically be announced within days.
Levy has already earmarked players to bring in this summer and is unlikely to pass up the opportunity to sign such a versatile and dynamic player on a free transfer.
Regardless of questions surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future impacting how Spurs will play next season, the squad needs midfielders, especially ones like Gomes, who could play as the anchor.
Gomes will not be short of proposals. However, Spurs are one game away from potentially being able to offer UEFA Champions League football, which could be a determining factor in his decision.
