Tottenham star Micky van de Ven sends message as transfer announcement made

Micky van de Ven has been at the centre of plenty of transfer gossip throughout the winter transfer window.

Van de Ven has been valued at £100million by Tottenham, which it is hoped will put off suitors including Real Madrid and Liverpool.

While van de Ven’s injury record is questionable, there is no doubt he is one of the best centre-backs in world football.

For all the talk of Tottenham landing a mega fee for Van de Ven, supporters will be furious if the North London side cash in either this window or in the summer.

While there has been no confirmed news on Van de Ven one way or the other yet, there has been plenty of movement elsewhere in the transfer window.

Van de Ven has been a Spurs player for two-and-a-half years now and has already seen plenty of players come and go at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One of those is Timo Werner, who has now secured a move from RB Leipzig to Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes.

The news was announced by San Jose on their official website and social media channels on Thursday afternoon.

The caption of the post read: “A proven winner at every level. Now wearing black and blue. Timo time starts now.”

Van de Ven is close friends with Werner still and both liked and commented on the post, sending a flames emoji to sum up how he feels about the transfer.

Yves Bissouma was also among the current Spurs crop to like the post.

What was Werner’s overall record for Tottenham?Werner spent a season-and-a-half on loan with Tottenham between 2023 and 2025, and it is fair to say he did not exactly light things up.

The former Germany international scored just three goals in 41 appearances for Spurs across all competitions.

In many ways, that sums up the second half of Werner’s career to date pretty well.

The versatile attacked netted 13, 16 and 28 Bundesliga goals in successive seasons up to 2020-21, but then fell completely off the cliff when joining Chelsea.

Spurs fans will no doubt wish Werner all the best in MLS, though, as he gets a chance to find the net more regularly again.
