Tottenham transfer round-up: Major Mbeumo news, Bentancur ‘replacement’ emerges

Tottenham can finally kickstart their summer transfer business after appointing Thomas Frank.

The Lilywhites confirmed the appointment of Frank as Head Coach on Thursday (12 June).

Deliberations over Ange Postecoglou’s future and the Australian’s replacement have prevented Tottenham from being active in the transfer market.

However, now that Frank is in place, it appears as though Spurs are ready to make some serious moves.

Hayden Hackney could become Frank’s first signing

Hayden Hackney is expected to kick off the brand-new Frank era at Tottenham.

Brentford had been interested in the midfielder while Frank was in charge, and the Dane will look to make Hackney one of his first signings now that he has been confirmed as Spurs’ Head Coach [Teesside Live].

The Lilywhites’ midfield has been crying out for some creative inspiration from deep, and Hackney could be the answer to their woes.

The 22-year-old is a dynamic midfielder known for his dribbling, passing and excellent ball control. As a deep-lying playmaker, he is comfortable retaining possession as well as distributing the ball, which could aid Spurs during the build-up.

Tottenham open talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo

Suggestions had emerged that Tottenham could hijack Manchester United’s move for Mbeumo should Frank succeed Postecoglou.

And now that Frank is in place, Sky Sports News reported on Friday (13 June) that Spurs have held initial discussions with Brentford about a deal for Mbeumo.

The Cameroonian is understood to be more intrigued by a move to Tottenham now that Frank is on board, and it would be a massive boost for the Lilywhites if the move were to materialise.

Tottenham could replace Rodrigo Bentancur with Yehor Yarmolyuk

Yehor Yarmolyuk could become the second player to follow Frank to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The midfielder started the season on the bench but became a consistent starter for Brentford in the Premier League during the closing stages of the season.

Tottenham have been closely tracking Yarmolyuk but are yet to make a formal approach [CaughtOffside].

Signing the 21-year-old will set Spurs back around £25million, and the Lilywhites will face steep competition as several Premier League and other European sides are also in the running.

This suggests that Rodrigo Bentancur’s days in North London are numbered. The midfielder has struggled since his ACL injury in 2022 and has already been rumoured to leave Spurs this summer.
