Tottenham ‘ready to pay £10m for Andoni Iraola’ after Postecoglou sack news

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham remains seriously in doubt.

Postecoglou has struggled to get a tune out of his Tottenham side this term, and they currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.

With a Europa League quarter-final still left to play, this could play a part in deciding his future, but suggestions have emerged that Daniel Levy is set to part ways regardless of the outcome.

Tottenham prepared to pay Andoni Iraola price

Although Postecoglou has continued to highlight how injuries have harmed his fortunes this season, there is growing frustration with the manager, who seems unable to improve things consistently.

Victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League is crucial in saving Tottenham’s season, but it is looking increasingly unlikely that this will make any difference to the manager’s long-term future.

According to The Athletic, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is the number one target in North London ahead of the summer transfer window, with Postecoglou’s future in serious doubt.

The Spaniard has one year remaining on his contract in the South Coast, and Spurs will be required to pay a £10million release clause.

This is unlikely to be a barrier, however, and the ball is suspected to lie in Iraola’s court as he decides his future.

Tottenham need to be careful with Iraola appointment

If Levy is looking to appoint a new manager at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Bournemouth boss is an attractive option after the job he has done this season.

However, it could be a risky appointment too, given how much of a step up it is from one club to the other in terms of expectations and resources.

Postecoglou made the step from Celtic to the Premier League, and he has seemingly struggled with adapting from one to the other, so whether a more experienced boss would be a safer option is to be considered.

Spurs haven’t had any form of stability for years now, since the days of Mauricio Pochettino, who has been pictured with Levy of late, meaning this appointment has to be the right one.

However, with question marks over the Bournemouth boss too, Levy may be required to make a leap of faith in the hope of creating change.
