Tottenham ready to make managerial change as sources issue ‘unhappy’ update

Robert Vilahamn could potentially be sacked at Tottenham Women as Daniel Levy may make a managerial change soon.

Spurs had a disappointing season in the Barclays Women’s Super League as they finished second-bottom after winning just five games.

Vilahamn joined Tottenham in 2023 and led the North London outfit to the Women’s FA Cup final in his first season, but things have gone downhill since then.

The Lilywhites were winless in their last 10 WSL fixtures, and it isn’t surprising to see speculation grow around the Swedish manager’s future.

Tottenham ‘unhappy’, Vilahamn could be sacked

As reported by BBC Sport (12 May), Tottenham are considering sacking Vilahamn this summer.

The Lilywhites wanted to close the gap on the top four after finishing sixth in the previous campaign and are “unhappy” with the direction they’ve taken under the 42-year-old head coach.

It’s been claimed that the Lilywhites’ board will decide on the Swedish manager’s future soon as they prepare for a crucial summer of recruitment.

Significant changes will arguably need to be made in the women’s team to ensure they’re successful next season.

Spurs need more than Vilahamn to change this summer

Vilahamn endured an abysmal season at Spurs, and a massive squad overhaul may be necessary next summer.

Beth England’s struggles against Chelsea in the 1-0 WSL loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, 4 May, highlight that Spurs arguably need to make changes to their forward line.

There are also some who the Lilywhites should undoubtedly look to build their team around ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Eleanor Heeps signed a new deal at Tottenham recently, and despite Lize Kop being the first-choice, the 21-year-old is certainly one for the future.

Vinai Venkatesham’s arrival at Spurs could be a big boost for the women’s team, as he had a positive track record at Arsenal.

If the head coach is sacked, the incoming chief executive officer may have a say in who replaces Vilahamn at the North London outfit next summer.

With how the 2024/25 campaign has gone, it feels like the time is right to move on from the Swedish manager and appoint someone capable of building a fruitful project.
