Tottenham now in talks over hiring Thomas Frank as Postecoglou faces sack

Tottenham have held talks over the potential appointment of Thomas Frank ahead of the new season.

There has been no decrease in rumours surrounding the potential departure of Ange Postecoglou despite winning the Europa League on Wednesday (21 May).

The Australian fulfilled his promise by lifting silverware in his second season in North London, but the sack could still be in the pipeline this summer.

That move could be accelerated by the Lilywhites as talks over Brentford boss Frank have already begun before the summer window opens.

Frank talks begin amid potential Postecoglou sack

There is plenty of positivity surrounding the Danish head coach after years of superb work since taking charge of the Bees.

Considering the 51-year-old was initially an assistant manager to Dean Smith, he has been one of the shining lights of managerial talent in the Premier League for many years.

This has seen him utilise a wide range of different tactical approaches to get the best results out of his side’s depending on the opposition.

It is fair to say that this contrasts heavily with Postecoglou, who is famed for sticking to his guns with his high line and attacking style of play.

The Australian may have changed this late on against Manchester United, as Brennan Johnson’s goal proved to be enough, but it may be too late to prove himself on the league stage.

This could see a swoop be made for Frank with Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reporting on 23 May that internal discussions have been held at Spurs over the Dane.

The ex-Brondby boss has emerged on a list of potential candidates to come into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Postecoglou is to face the sack.

Frank could be upgrade on Postecoglou at Tottenham

There is no doubt that it has been a dreadful season domestically for the Lilywhites after falling to 17th in the Premier League table.

The Europa League win is certainly a massive boost and takes away from the “Spursy” image, but the number of league defeats has still been unacceptable.

As a result, it would be little surprise if Postecoglou were to part ways and Daniel Levy went out and looked to bring in a replacement option.

Frank could prove to be an ideal option given his prior Premier League experience, compared to someone else like Andoni Iraola, who has spent less time in England.
