Tottenham next manager latest as new name storms into reckoning to replace Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank remains a man under intense pressure at Tottenham after a terrible first half to the season.

Spurs were beaten 3-2 by Bournemouth on Wednesday and have just 27 points from 21 matches this season.

With his side 14th in the Premier League, Frank has understandably been touted with the Tottenham sack for a number of weeks now.

While Frank deserves sympathy for Tottenham’s injury problems, the Dane also has to accept plenty of the blame for too many underwhelming displays.

And as Frank‘s future continues to come under the spotlight, there has been a development in the odds on who will become next manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Enzo Maresca in running to succeed Thomas Frank

Enzo Maresca was sacked by Chelsea on New Year’s Day – or left by mutual consent, depending on who you listen to – and is therefore seeking a new job.

Jamie O’Hara recently named Maresca as a good choice for Spurs should he be seeking a swift return to management.

Now, the latest bookmakers’ odds have Maresca as the fourth favourite to become Spurs’ next boss at 8/1.

He is a new name among the frontrunners, while Jurgen Klopp’s odds have shifted slightly from 7/1 to 6/1 over the past fortnight.

The four current favourites to become Tottenham’s next manager

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner remains the favourite at 4/1, followed by Fulham’s Marco Silva at 6/1.

Further down the list are Roberto De Zerbi and Michael Carrick (both 12/1), while Robbie Keane is an interesting name at 14/1.

Each of those have their strengths, while many have plenty of drawbacks, but it may well be that one of them is in place before too long.

When could Thomas Frank be sacked by Tottenham?

It’s important to say that nobody wants to see another person sacked. And the latest news is that Tottenham will stand by Frank for now.

However, this is the brutal reality of management – and indeed Premier League management.

Frank has unfortunately not showed enough and Spurs fans – largely speaking – want a change before this regression sinks in too much.

Spurs have no hope of competing for a top-four spot in the Premier League, so they are again relying on cup competitions.

Progression to the knockout stages of the Champions League looks likely, but Spurs have a tough FA Cup third-round tie with Aston Villa to come on Saturday.

Should Spurs lose that, leaving them basically fighting on one front, it may well be that the board decide enough is enough.
