Tottenham news round-up: Premier League fine possible as Spurs turn to Eze

Tottenham are approaching the end of their most productive week in the transfer market in years.

The North Londoners signed two players this week, which would likely have been three had Nottingham Forest not complicated Spurs’ approach for Morgan Gibbs-White.

It will have given Thomas Frank a timely boost ahead of his first game in charge of Spurs as they tackle Reading in their opening pre-season fixture next week.

Much to the Lilywhites’ excitement, Spurs are still far from done with their summer expenditure as Tottenham News brings you the latest updates from N17.

Tottenham interested in Dušan Vlahović

Frank is still keen to bring in a striker this summer, with Tottenham now eyeing a move for Dušan Vlahović from Juventus.

The 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Italian giants, who are looking to recoup part of the £65million+ they spent on the Serbian less than four years ago.

Spurs face plenty of competition for the talented forward, but Frank will be very keen to secure a proven goalscorer, especially with Richarlison nearing an exit from North London.

Spurs have made contact to sign João Palhinha

Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of João Palhinha as the former Sporting man has fallen out of favour with Bayern Munich’s manager, Vincent Kompany.

The 30-year-old was limited to just six starts in the Bundesliga last season, despite the German club chasing the Portugal international’s signature for the best part of a year.

However, the defensive midfielder excelled in his two years at Fulham prior to his move to Bavaria, and would be considered a coup for Tottenham if they could land his signature.

Gibbs-White approach could result in Premier League fine for Spurs

Spurs looked set to complete a quick deal for Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his £60million release clause, but have been pegged back by Nottingham Forest, who are considering legal action against Daniel Levy’s club.

The chairman could even face a fine from the Premier League if Forest elevate the case to the hierarchy of the English top flight.

Tottenham are still confident that the move should go through, but they will first have to navigate a complicated procedure.

Tottenham to revive Eze chase amid Gibbs-White blow

Should the complications with the Gibbs-White prove too challenging to overcome, Tottenham could revive their interest in Eberechi Eze.

The Lilywhites temporarily dropped their pursuit as Arsenal seemed to steal ahead in the race, but their bitter rivals have seemingly also cooled their interest, focusing on completing a move for other priority targets.

Eze remains a player that Spurs fans would love to see at Hotspur Way, and Frank may well turn to the Crystal Palace star as he looks to finalise Tottenham’s front line.
