Tottenham news round-up: Postecoglou sack claim, Harry Kane return mooted

Tottenham have found themselves in the spotlight of news headlines throughout the last several weeks.

Tottenham are enduring a horrid campaign, and it comes as no surprise to see the rumours swirling across various departments of the club.

Ange Postecoglou is still hanging on by a thread while a future star has emerged during a loan spell with an EFL club.

Tottenham News rounds up all the latest news regarding the club on Thursday, 20 February.

Jamie Donley shines out on loan

Jamie Donley has enjoyed some magnificent form during his loan spell at Leyton Orient and appears to be making the headlines with every performance.

The Spurs youngster scored again for Orient in their 2-1 victory over promotion favourites Wrexham, with Sam Parkin in awe of what he did.

Speaking via the What The EFL podcast (19 February), Parkin said: “Terrific technique.

“Different type of goal to the one that he’s not going to get, or didn’t get, against Manchester City despite it being a thing of beauty.

“But, last night, brilliant one to control [the ball] coming out of the sky, difficult. Rich vein of form.”

Son Heung-Min headed for the exit door

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Son Heung-Min has attracted the attention of a duo of Saudi clubs to sign him in the summer.

Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are the two sides said to be courting the winger who has had a fairly troubled campaign at Tottenham this time around.

His future at Spurs has come under question throughout the season and the report states that the duo would be willing to offer upwards of £41million for his services.

Tottenham will have a whole host of big decisions to make in the summer, with Son’s future certainly up there in terms of priority.

Daniel Levy wants to stay at Tottenham

Tottenham have been identified as the target for a potential Qatari takeover, though Daniel Levy is understood to be keen on remaining at the club.

Speaking on the interest in the club, Evening Standard journalist Dan Kilpatrick said: “There has been interest from Qatar. And I think it is fair to say that it’s kind of well-known and well talked about that Levy would kind of like to stay on in the event of ENIC becoming potentially a minority partner.”

That news is unlikely to go down overly well for Spurs supporters who will be keen on Levy departing the club after what has largely been years of failure.

It has been 17 years since Tottenham last won a major trophy, and under the stewardship of Levy, that wait only appears to be getting longer.

Stan Collymore makes Ange Postecoglou claim

Postecoglou has been the talk of the town for several months now and it is quite surprising that he is yet to face the sack given the wretched campaign he has spearheaded.

Exits from both domestic cups all but ended any hopes of success, but Stan Collymore believes that Levy will eventually pull the trigger.

“For Tottenham, is Ange Postecoglou a league title-winning manager or a regular top-four manager?” he said via CaughtOffside.

“Will he get the same amount of years as Mikel Arteta has had at Arsenal? I doubt it because Daniel Levy always looks to pull the rug and then get the new shiny manager to walk through the door.”

Harry Kane

Harry Kane return mooted at Tottenham

Ever since Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich, Spurs have regressed and much of that is down to their lack of a natural goalscorer.

The form of Son has even taken a hit after the duo formed one of the best-attacking partnerships in the Premier League but it may happen again.

Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News expressed his desire to see Tottenham make a move to sign Kane this summer.

Go and sign him this summer,” King said.

The sooner they bring Kane back, the more stability they will have upfront. He is a proven player, and I’ve said all along, he is a Tottenham centre-forward through and through. He is a Gary Lineker, a Jürgen Klinsmann, and a Bobby Smith.

He looks as though he is made for Tottenham and always was. It would be very exciting if he did come back. If Tottenham have anything about them, should they bring him back, they will ensure that his football career, as long as it lasts, would be with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.”
