Tottenham news round-up: New injury emerges amid Bissouma exit drama
Tottenham cannot seem to catch a break no matter how hard they try.
Thanks to their elimination from the FA Cup, Spurs had a free weekend which will have allowed them plenty of time to regroup and recuperate after a fairly intense season.
Even though they’d have preferred to still be in the competition, this break will have allowed Ange Postecoglou and his men to put all their focus into the first leg of their Round of 16 UEFA Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (6 March).
But, even though they didn’t step foot on a pitch over the weekend, Spurs are still set to be without a first-team player for the game.
Here, Tottenham News rounds up the latest from Wednesday, 5 March.

Ally McCoist shares Tottenham Europa League prediction
With both Spurs and Manchester United only having the Europa League left to fight for this season, most of their attention will likely shift towards the competition.
Both Premier League sides have enough quality among their ranks to end the term with the trophy in their hands but whether they take the chances handed to them is up to the team themselves.
And, when McCoist was asked to pick his winner in the Europa League, Spurs were the team he chose to triumph over the rest and come away with the trophy.
Tottenham Academy fixtures in April set to change
In a season that’s already fairly jam-packed, Tottenham’s academy are set to have two of their Under-18’s fixtures in April rescheduled.
The games which are being moved around were against Arsenal and Aston Villa with the latter of the two getting changed due to a postponement earlier in the season.
So as a result of this, their game against the Villans is now set to take place on 19 April while the originally scheduled fixture against Arsenal has been moved to 22 April in order to give the players some time to rest.
Tottenham’s senior squad will be more than used to playing two games per week but for the youngsters, it’s not something that often happens.
Dejan Kulusevski to miss Europa League clash v AZ Alkmaar
One of Tottenham’s main problems this season has been injuries with many of their first-team players being ruled out for extended periods.
And, even though Spurs didn’t have a game over the weekend, Postecoglou has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski is set to miss the tie on Thursday after he received a “knock” in training.
This is obviously yet another massive blow for Tottenham but the Australian did have some good news as he failed to rule out the chances of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke taking part in the game.
Yves Bissouma could be on his way out of Tottenham
After having a fairly poor season thus far, it’s not a surprise to see some influential figures from within Tottenham wanting to get rid of Yves Bissouma.
And, according to a report from GiveMeSport (4 March), Spurs are looking to cash in on Bissouma this summer while he still has some value left in him.
Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 20 | 2 | 0 |
FA Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Carabao Cup | 4 | 0 | 0 |
Europa League | 6 | 0 | 0 |
The report also adds that Jonny Cardoso is being eyed up as his replacement with a £21million fee all it would cost to pry him away from Real Betis.
Which, if Spurs are looking to rebuild their team, would be a rather impressive coup.
